SCHEDULE OF ACTIVITIES 2023

PARTICIPATE IN THE CANARY ISLAND SPERM WHALE PROJECT

Sea outings will be carried out with a sail boat of 15 meters long.

Each participant will be able to gain first-hand experience and learn about cetaceans and research work with qualified researchers.

Our Program!

DAY 1: meet at the port of Puerto Calero at 8.00 o’ clock. Introduce the group and the  SECAC team. Discuss coordination, as well as basic safety standards at sea.

Theoretical and practical  training will be offered.

Research outings on the sea( from 8 am. to 16 pm.).

Possible night navigation and reach other port like Fuerteventura or La Graciosa.

DAY 2-3: research outings on the sea. Activities last from 8.00 to 16.00 o’ clock.

 

The boat will remain at the disposal of the participants until 7 AM the following day.

The programme may vary due to wheater conditions and the work to be carried out.

 

 

CONTENT OF THE THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL TRAINING

-Campaign program and field work methodology, coordination, basic safety standards at sea.
-Canary Islands Cetaceans
-Underwater sound and bioacustic research
-Photo-ID (compilation of a Photo-ID catalogue, methodology in the analysis of photo-ID, etc.).
